How We Nurture the Next Generation of IT Professionals
At P3+Uplift, our dedication to nurturing the next generation of IT professionals shines through our outstanding internship program. Over the past three years, I've had the privilege of working alongside our Director of Engineering, Bryce Klinker, to develop this program and witness its transformative impact on both our interns and our organization.
Our internship program is now a cornerstone of our talent development strategy. We launched it with the goal of bridging the gap between academic learning and practical experience, and the results have been remarkable. One of our proudest achievements came during our first year, when an exceptional intern was offered a full-time position at P3+Uplift. Over two years later, he remains a vital part of our team, demonstrating the long-term potential of our interns. Additionally, another intern secured a full-time role with a client they worked with during their internship, showcasing the program's broader industry impact.
We've strategically partnered with various Central Iowa schools, including Iowa State, Drake, Grinnell, Simpson, and more to source our interns. Our focus is on the software development field, providing top-notch training from some of the most skilled developers in the Des Moines metro area. Our interns gain hands-on experience working on real projects, preparing them for the challenges of the IT industry.
A key tool in our recruitment process is Handshake, an online platform that connects higher education students and alumni with potential employers. Handshake has enabled us to reach a diverse pool of talented students, significantly increasing interest and applications for our program. This platform has been instrumental in finding passionate and driven individuals eager to learn and contribute.
Our program extends beyond software engineering. We have successfully integrated a recruiting intern, enriching our internal processes and providing a comprehensive learning experience for everyone involved. This diversity in roles underscores our holistic approach to professional development.
